There’s so much awful happening in the world yet I’m still in shock about the 168 children who were killed on Feb 28th at Shajareh Tayyebeh Girls Primary School in Iran … ages 7-12. My daughter is about to turn 7, I can barely glimpse an atrocity like this without my heart falling out of my chest.

And here I am making silly drawings with bright colors; our eclectic and useless umbrellas to feel protected … I don’t know

I’m pleased to have been invited to participate in this year’s International Scriabin Festival 🎹✨ My reimagined Clavier à lumières will be featured in a presentation during the festival’s online sessions, January 2–4, 2026 (New Zealand time, 8 AM–2 PM). I’m looking forward to engaging with an inspiring community of artists and enthusiasts

This series serves as a lead-in to the @scriabinsociety_america Festival culminating in a performance by the @laphil

Huge props to Jordan Scott for helping make the instrument come to life.

This show is dedicated to my friend Tim Little, who passed when we were both just six years old - the son of my first piano teacher. Many of these works began in grief, an attempt to hold on, to notate, to understand. Over time, they’ve provided the opposite: release, levity, and joy.

Music itself becomes the subject that drifts and takes shape. This work invites viewers to pause and float above the noise. You’ve held on for too long, It’s time to listen and let go.

The series weaves transcribed bird calls with watercolor and ink, creating visual scores that offer a reprieve from what tethers us.

It’s so inspiring to see “50 For the Future” presented in full with such great attention and inclusion.

It’s so inspiring to see “50 For the Future” presented in full with such great attention and inclusion.

I started a few others from Messiaen’s bird catalogue; this one integrates Le Loriot’s call in notation.

I couldn’t help to add oranges like the orioles Im used to seeing in Texas versus the mostly yellow ones in France.

Im so proud of all the participants .. public high school, pre college, and conservatory graduate students all together at @sfconservmusic with @kronos_quartet for a day of masterclasses and performances.

All works from Kronos #50forthefuture - including Darvishi (Iran), Yun (Taiwan), Benshoof (US), and Ramnath (India) giving students a glimpse into musical cultures and new techniques they may have never had access to before.

What a fun project; 8 months in the making, 7 organizations across the US and Canada, masterclasses, performances, visual art, workshops and rehearsals .. all while celebrating composers with rich cultural backgrounds, from Mali to the Philippines. I am so proud of all the students involved. Here are some of my favorite snap shots. Huge congrats to the fantastic directors @ttcarnold, Iryna, @hattiebestul, Sarah, Adrian, @emily44tian .. and of course @kronos_quartet for inspiring us all. Special shout-out to @mouscula and @imdanandiplaybass for the Pulsation project … we had students paint and draw a 12 foot visualization synchronized to music with a click track in three separate locations. On to the next one. Looking forward to next year @chambermusicoc (CA), Face the Music at @kaufmanmusiccenter (NY), @miltonacademy (MA), @osaschool (CA), @asawasota (CA), and @utschools (Ontario)!
